On this night, the druids, who were the Celts' priests, made predictions, which were very important because the Celts used them as a guide during the dark months of winter. To pleased the spirits, people hung big turnips with candles at the entrance of their houses as food and light offerings. Currently Halloween is celebrated as a spooky night when masquerading children go around trick or treating to get sweets without being aware of the ancient Celtic gods invoked by the druids centuries ago. |
